Our family vacations in Idaho offer a trip,
which will make you feel like you are stepping back in time to an
America that existed hundreds of years ago – a land
thankfully untouched by urban development. Idaho truly is one of
America's final frontiers and one of the best spots for one of your
next family vacations. The state features miles upon miles of protected
wilderness areas that have changed little since first appearing on the
U.S. map. The mountains, valleys, canyons and forests of these wild
regions offer the perfect environment for one of our extraordinary
family vacations – climbing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing,
and on of our favorites – river rafting on the roughly 3,100
miles of whitewater that surge through Idaho's backcountry.
Our Family vacations to the Lower Salmon River reveal a side of Idaho
seldom seen by most. Different from the forests and mountains that
makes up much of Idaho's wilderness, the river runs through the warmer,
drier canyon country of the Seven Devils. Not confined to a single
river canyon, the Lower Salmon actually flows through four separate
gorges – the Green, Cougar, Snow Hole and Blue canyons
– interspersed with sprawling, wide-open vistas. Adorned with
some of the largest and most beautiful white sand beaches of any
western river, the Lower Salmon is the perfect destination for one of
your next family vacations. Warm weather, easy-going whitewater and
lots of wildlife make this one of our great family vacations, which is
fun for kids.
Family Vacations - Why the
Gorges of the Salmon?
This is one of our more accessible family vacations – easy to
access, ideal for first-time rafters and younger children, and with
plenty of departures to choose from. Here are just a few more reasons
why you'll love the Lower Salmon:
